Over 30 languages are spoken at Firs Primary School, and we are proud to be part of a very diverse community.
We have an above average number of pupils who speak English as an additional language (EAL), and around 50% of our EAL pupils are new to English. For these children, Firs Primary School is often their first experience of the English school system.
Our curriculum, teaching strategies and induction procedures are designed to support these pupils to rapidly make progress in English language as well as in all other areas of the curriculum, whilst also ensuring that they are quickly come to feel part of our ‘Firsy Family’, and feel at home in our school.
Please see our EAL Firsy Foundations document for further information on EAL at Firs Primary School.
