Our Topics
We have a fantastic selection of topics to inspire our learning this year.
Our topic this term is Burps, Bottoms and Bile!
This term we will be learning about the human body and how it works, focusing closely on the digestive system and muscles. Within our DT lessons we will be learning about healthy eating and will even be having a go at cooking some healthy food.
Our quality text for English this half term is:
Memorable Experience
Spring 2
When sorting out a cupboard in the classroom our teachers found some items that we think belonged to an pupil. Here are the things that we found:
After we had looked at them we discussed in pairs who we thought it could have belonged to and why we thought that.
Spring 1
To begin our new topic, we read Beowulf – retold by Rob Lloyd Jones. Children were excited to read about the monsters from this tale and had the opportunity to create their very own. Children can’t wait to create their own monster tale in the style of Beowulf, incorperating their own monster character.
Later in the week children also listened to some Anglo-saxon and Viking music, using this to inspire freezeframes and battle sequences.
Autumn 2
The teachers received an unusual email from someone explaining that there could be an earthquake near us. As a result of this we needed to learn what to do if this was to happened. We learned the ‘Drop, cover and hold on’ method where we got under the tables for protection. It was very exciting!
Autumn 1
We got a mystery phone call to say that something strange had been found in the learning zone. We went to have a look and found a skeleton buried in sand. We had to become archaeologists and uncover the bones. After we discussed who we thought it could and learnt about Richard III.
