Information from the school:
My name is Mr Marshall and I will be Head of Year for year 7 when they join us at Derby Cathedral School in September 2020.
I can now confirm that the transition days originally planned for July will not be going ahead. This has been a joint decision with all other schools in Derby City. In light of this, we have added an introductory section specifically for Year 6 students to the Derby Cathedral School website. This includes introductions, Q and A, useful links and videos. This can be found by following the link:
https://www.derbycathedralschool.org.uk/transition
New information will be posted here so make sure to keep an eye out. We welcome any questions you may have about September via email to: info@derbycathedralschool.org.uk.
The first day back at school will be Friday 4th September 2020. This is for new Year 7 students only. During that day, students will meet their form tutor, meet others in their form, be introduced to the different subjects and start to find their way around the school. We hope to make the transition to secondary school as comfortable as possible.
Parents/carers will receive a letter from school with some more information. There will be tasks to be completed including a letter for the children to write to us so we can learn something about them, hear what is worrying them and hopefully answer any questions that they may have.
We will also provide up to date information about school uniform and uniform suppliers. At the moment we will be expecting all students to be in full uniform (including school blazer and ties) when they start in September, unless we are advised otherwise. We will keep you posted.
I look forward to meeting everyone.
Kind Regards,
Mr. Marshall
Head of Transition
