This half term our theme is Superhero, and the children will take part in a range of exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum. In Design and Technology, they will design and decorate their own eye patch for Pudsey as part of our Children in Need focus, while in History they will explore the fascinating history of communication, discovering how people have shared information from the earliest cave paintings to the digital age. In Religious Education the children will learn about Hinduism, exploring key beliefs, traditions, and celebrations, and in Science they will investigate the stages of human life, looking closely at how humans grow and change. Geography will focus on developing map skills, helping children understand how to read and create maps of the world around them. To enrich this learning further, the children will enjoy an exciting trip to Conkers, where they will take part in outdoor learning and team challenges to put their superhero skills into action, while reflecting on the values of real-life superheroes such as kindness, resilience, and teamwork.
This term we will be completing the unit of : The place value of punctuation and grammar.
This unit will teach the student common, proper nouns and verbs. It will define single-clause sentences are and the children should be able to punctuate single-clause sentences, which now include ‘leftovers’. Finally they will learn what co-ordinating conjunctions are and by the end of this objective, they should be able to identify co-ordinating conjunctions at both a fluency and reasoning level.
Year Two will be going on an exciting trip to Conkers in Moira. We will explore the adventure playground and have fun climbing, sliding, and balancing. As part of our geography learning, we will be planning the route we take and looking at maps to see how we get there. On our nature walk through the woods, we will look at different physical features such as trees, lakes, and hills, as well as human features like bridges and paths. We will also try the barefoot walk, splashing in water and squelching through mud. After lunch, we will explore the indoor exhibits and find out more about the forest and the animals that live there. It will be a fun day of adventure, learning, and exploring!
This term children will learn about animals and their habitats, exploring where different creatures – including big cats – live in hot and cold countries. They develop creativity through painting animal patterns and making 3D animal sculptures from clay or plasticine. In computing, children begin programming simple animations, while in music they enjoy Charanga units such as Ho, Ho, Ho. Gymnastics helps them build balance, control, and coordination. Through RE and PSHE, children explore Jewish beliefs, the meaning of belonging to a community, and the importance of valuing difference.
